Fally Ipupa arrives in Nairobi tomorrow

Fally Ipupa is arriving in Nairobi tomorrow in preparation for the Sawa Sawa Festival this weekend (May 29 - 30).

The Congolese musician from Kinshasa, Fally Ipupa, began singing in his church’s choir.  Fally then started his professional music career performing with various small groups based in Kinshasa in the mid-1990s.  In the late 90s, Fally started working with the popular group Quartier Latin and also on his solo projects.

In 2006, Fally’s debut solo album “Straight Path” was released and was quickly a success with over 100,000 copies sold and was certified gold.

Known for his stage presence, Fally’s versatility as a well-rounded artist is evident in his vocals, his musicality as a guitarist, and as a dancer.  Nairobian concert goers will definitely be treated to a special performance on Saturday.

Sawa Sawa Festival 2011 will be held at the Carnivore Grounds on Saturday May 28th – 29th, 2011.

Acts include an all female vocalist collaboration called Mabinti, Keyan gospel artist Daddy Owen, poet Wanjiku Mwaura, Congolese Fally Ipupa who will be headlining the event on Saturday, and Kenyan heavyweights Sauti Sol will be headlining Sunday’s concert.

Tickets are available at Tamambo (The Mall in Westlands), Tamambo Tapaz (Village Market), Tamambo (Karen Blixen Coffee Garden), Carnivore, Concorde Motors (Shell Hurlingham), Sarakasi Dome and Jacaranda Motors (Shell Lavington).
